The Afghan national futsal team is intensively preparing for the upcoming AFC Futsal Championship. With a series of 9 national preparatory games scheduled in East Asia, the team aims to achieve their best form for the final stage of the Asian Nations Cup.
The national futsal team of the country will travel to Bangkok, Thailand, at the start of the new solar year to participate in 9 national preparatory matches before the Asian Nations Cup. The team’s first match in the Cup will be against Iran’s national team on April 18, 2024.
Currently, the national futsal players are training at Sadaqat Club in Mashhad, Iran. According to Nasir Sadaqat, the team’s manager, they will depart for Thailand on the second day of the Lunar New Year (21 March) and play four friendly matches before heading to Myanmar for two preparatory matches with the national team on March 30 and April 1.
Following the Myanmar competitions, Nasir Sadaqat stated that the team will return to Bangkok and will have three additional games against Saudi Arabia and South Korea, bringing the total national preparatory games in East Asia to 9.
The director of the country’s national futsal team has confirmed that all preparation games will take place on the parquet, ensuring the players are familiar with the tournament field conditions and can adapt to the weather in Bangkok.
All preparation games will be played on parquet to familiarize the players with the competition field and adapt to the weather conditions in Bangkok. Afghanistan, ranked 53rd by FIFA, is placed in Group D alongside Iran, Kuwait, and Bahrain, ranked 6th, 43rd, and 75th in the world respectively.
