Tragic Night in Vienna: Five Women Killed in Separate Incidents
Five women lost their lives in two separate incidents in Vienna on Friday, 23 February. Three women were fatally stabbed in a brothel in the Brigitnau district, with the suspect identified as a 27-year-old Afghan man now in police custody. The victims’ identities have not been disclosed, and the motive behind the attack remains unclear.
In a parallel incident in another part of the city, a mother and her daughter were found dead in their apartment. The 51-year-old mother and her 13-year-old daughter are believed to have been suffocated. According to Austrian news agencies, the girl’s father is wanted by the police as the primary suspect.
The incidents have sparked outrage among women’s rights activists in Austria, who have dubbed it “Black Friday”. They are urging immediate government action to address violence against women in the country.
